Everyone that knows me know I have many talents.. Cooking is not one of them. I’ll make the simplest thing a total wreck in less than a second. When it comes to the kitchen, I am not fluent.
All of my childhood and adolescence, I never had to cook! I had my mother, who is awesome in the kitchen and never made me learn because I just didn’t want to. When I grew up and moved out, I was lucky enough to move in with people who not only accepted the fact that I was culinary deficient, but happily fed me and sometimes even tried to teach me new things.
Living with David, I’ve realized I’m gonna starve if I don’t learn something. Not only does David not know how to cook, but honestly, unless it’s attached to his PS4, there’s just no interest. So I’ve been learning. and failing.
I spent 4 hours making a lasagna
HOW MANY HOURS?
1-2-3–4 <– hours.
Because, damnit! I’m tired of not knowing how to cook! and it’s funny because all I ever watch is cooking shows! But I just don’t know how to cook!!!
At first, I was sure I was going to try to do something a la Gordon Ramsay, since I fckn love him right now. But then I found his cooking complicated and decided to go with a youtube tutorial by a guy named Chef John and he has a food channel called Food Wishes, and it is seriously awesome. He is hilarious and his food is simple and it always looks good.
So I decided on this recipe.
I followed TO THE TEE! I did everything the dude said! and at the end of the day, I had an amazing lasagna sitting on my counter, just waiting to ravished by me!
I was happy as hell, man!
This is the fist lasagna I’ve ever done, and possibly the fist thing I’ve ever been so hyped about because it wasn’t “eh” like most times. it’s fuckin awesome.
So as I continue this culinary journey of mostly fails, I can at least have one win. and it was a very tasty win :D
and how did it look?
well, i’m glad you asked ^_^
This picture did it zero justice
